Formation of the Center-Left Think Tank in Africa

The inception of the Center-Left Think Tank in Africa can be traced back to a collective recognition of the pressing need for a comprehensive and progressive approach to address the persistent challenges of social injustice, policy deficiencies, and shared political experiences in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The founding members, drawn from diverse backgrounds including politics, academia, and civil society, embarked on this intellectual journey driven by a shared commitment to foster positive change and development in their homeland.

The catalyst for the formation of the think tank arose from a deep-seated concern about the pervasive social injustices that plagued Sub-Saharan Africa. Members of the think tank had witnessed firsthand the inequality, discrimination, and marginalization experienced by various communities within the region. These injustices, whether rooted in economic disparities, ethnic tensions, or gender-based issues, became a rallying point for individuals who sought to address these challenges through a lens of social justice.

The founding members recognized the inadequacies of existing policies in effectively addressing the social injustices prevalent in the region. Policies often fell short in providing sustainable solutions and were sometimes marred by inefficiencies, corruption, or a lack of inclusivity. This realization underscored the need for a platform that could generate evidence-based research to influence policy formulation, ensuring that policies were not only comprehensive but also aligned with the principles of fairness and equity.

The diverse backgrounds of the think tank’s members included individuals who had experienced Sub-Saharan Africa’s political landscape from various perspectives – as politicians, academics, and advocates within civil society. Through shared experiences, they acknowledged the importance of transcending political divides and fostering a united effort to address common challenges. The think tank emerged as a response to the shared understanding that sustainable political solutions required collaborative, interdisciplinary efforts.

The realization of the need for a dedicated space for open and constructive dialogue became evident. The think tank serves as a discussion table where individuals from political, academic, and civil society spaces converge to exchange ideas, experiences, and perspectives. This collaborative approach enables a holistic understanding of the region’s challenges and facilitates the development of comprehensive strategies that transcend traditional silos.

Center-Left Think Tank in Africa emerged organically from the convergence of experiences that highlighted the urgency of addressing social injustice, deficiencies in policies, and the
